What is the most effective way to bulk up?

Question:
What is the most effective way to bulk up?

I would rather build muscle slowly instead of bulking up and getting fat. What do you think of this approach?

Answer:
This is a popular approach many guys take which I call the 'stay lean all year' philosophy.

Expect to gain 3-5 pounds of muscle a year with this approach. If you are happy with this progress than go for it.

However, If you really want to look like someone who lifts weights and have something to show for all your hard work, and have people stare at you with awe than you have to take the 'bulk up first' approach.

And when I say bulk up I mean BULK UP! Typically you have to overshoot your goal ripped look by 30-40 pounds. So if you want to be a ripped 200 lbs than don't even consider cutting until you climb to at least 230-240 pounds! Pretty crazy eh!

Yes, you will have to say good bye to your abs for a bit, maybe even get a little chubby but who cares?

You might be frustrated with the short term consequences of weight gain and yes it will take about 4 months to diet off the fat but is the long term result not worth it?

You will finally look like someone who works out and be able to take your shirt off with pride and confidence...heck your physique will probably be intimidating with an extra 20-30 pounds of muscle mass!

Bulking up is the only time tested way to build a extra 30-50 pounds of muscle weight quickly!!!

The choice is yours!
